Italian Impossible Pie

Italian Impossible Pie
Ingredients
½ cup finely chopped onion
½ cup finely chopped green bell pepper
2 garlic cloves, finely minced
1 lb mild Italian sausage (casings removed if needed)
1½ cups shredded mozzarella
½ cup finely grated Parmesan
3 large eggs
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
¾ cup baking mix (such as Bisquick)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish and set it aside.
Step 2: Cook the Filling
In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion and green pepper for about 3–4 minutes, until softened.
Add the minced garlic and Italian sausage, breaking the sausage into small crumbles as it cooks. Continue cooking until the sausage is fully browned.
Drain any excess grease, then stir in the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan until combined.
Step 3: Assemble the Base
Transfer the sausage and vegetable mixture into the prepared pie dish.
Spread it out evenly to form a consistent base layer.
Step 4: Prepare the Batter
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, evaporated milk, Bisquick mix, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes until smooth and well blended.
Step 5: Combine and Bake
Pour the batter evenly over the sausage mixture in the pie dish, ensuring it spreads across the surface.
Step 6: Bake to Perfection
Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is set and lightly golden brown.
Step 7: Serve
Allow the pie to cool slightly before slicing.
Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.
