How to make German Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

1 package Pillsbury Moist Supreme German Chocolate Premium Cake Mix

Additional ingredients to prepare cake mix per package instructions

1 tablespoon butter

1 cup pecan pieces

2 containers Pillsbury Creamy Supreme Coconut-Pecan Flavored Frosting

1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

Prepare cake mix according to package directions.

Divide batter into 3 prepared (8-inch) round cake pans.

Bake and cool according to package directions, but reduce baking time to 19 to 22 minutes.

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add pecan pieces. Cook and stir 2 to 3 minutes or until lightly toasted.

Remove from skillet. Let cool.

Place 1 cake layer on a serving plate, rounded side down.

Top with about 1 cup frosting.

Repeat cake and frosting layers two more times.

Arrange cooled pecans on the frosting on top of the cake.

Microwave chocolate in a small heavy-duty plastic bag at a height of 35 to 45 seconds or until melted and smooth when kneaded.

Cut a small corner off the bag.

Drizzle over cake.
