Fresh Salsa
Fresh Salsa
Ingredients
2 cans diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can El Pato tomato sauce
1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
3 to 4 jalapeños, finely chopped
1 bunch fresh cilantro, chopped
1 to 2 teaspoons garlic salt, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Juice of 1 lime, optional
1/2 teaspoon cumin, optional
Salt, to taste, if needed
Instructions
Pour the diced tomatoes into a large mixing bowl.
Add the El Pato tomato sauce and stir until the salsa base is well combined.
Finely dice the yellow onion and add it to the bowl.
Chop the jalapeños into small pieces. Remove the seeds for a milder salsa, or keep some seeds if you want more heat.
Add the chopped jalapeños to the tomato mixture.
Chop the fresh cilantro and stir it into the salsa.
Season with garlic salt, black pepper, and cumin if using.
Add fresh lime juice if you want a brighter, fresher flavor.
Stir everything together until the tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, cilantro, and sauce are evenly mixed.
Taste and adjust with more garlic salt, lime juice, jalapeño, or cilantro as needed.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving so the flavors can blend.
Serving Ideas
Serve chilled with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, grilled meats, eggs, nachos, quesadillas, or rice bowls.
Pro Tip
For a smoother salsa, pulse half of the mixture in a blender, then stir it back into the chunky salsa. This gives you a thick, scoopable salsa with fresh texture.
