Cabbage Beef Bake

Cabbage Beef Bake

Ingredients

Ground beef – 1 pound, for a hearty, flavorful base

Onion (medium, chopped) – 1, adds sweetness and depth to the beef mixture

Cabbage (chopped) – 3 cups, tender and mild, balancing the savory flavors

Diced tomatoes (undrained) – 1 can (14.5 ounces), adds juiciness and a tangy note

Cooked rice – 1 cup, for texture and a comforting, filling layer

Garlic powder – 1 teaspoon, to enhance the savory aroma

Salt – 1 teaspoon, for seasoning and balance

Black pepper – ½ teaspoon, adds a mild kick and warmth

Cheddar cheese (shredded) – 1 cup, for a creamy, melty topping

Beef broth – ½ cup, keeps the casserole moist and flavorful while baking

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare and Brown the Beef

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion together until the beef is browned and no longer pink, and the onions are tender.

Drain any excess fat, then season with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine well.

Step 2: Layer the Ingredients

Spread half of the chopped cabbage evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Spoon the beef and onion mixture over the cabbage, followed by the cooked rice.

Pour the undrained diced tomatoes evenly over the top to add moisture and flavor.

Step 3: Add Broth and Bake

Top with the remaining cabbage, then pour the beef broth evenly over the entire dish.

Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the cabbage to soften.

Step 4: Finish with Cheese

Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top, and return to the oven.

Bake uncovered for an additional 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden on the edges.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving to allow it to set slightly.

Serve warm for a hearty, comforting meal that brings together the perfect blend of savory beef, tender cabbage, and creamy melted cheese.
