Meatloaf With Italian Sausage
Meatloaf With Italian Sausage
Ingredients:
1¼ pounds ground beef
4 Italian sausage links (4 oz each), casings removed
1 large egg, beaten
1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
½ cup dry hot wheat cereal (or substitute with quick oats or breadcrumbs)
½ cup milk
A splash of Worcestershire sauce
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s fully heated by the time your meatloaf is ready to bake.
Prepare the Sausage
Remove the casings from the Italian sausage links and finely chop or crumble the sausage.
Mix the Meatloaf Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped sausage, beaten egg, green bell pepper, onion, dry wheat cereal (or oats/breadcrumbs), milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
Mix gently until everything is evenly incorporated—avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.
Shape and Add to Pan
Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan and press it in lightly to form an even, compact loaf.
Bake the Meatloaf
Bake for about 1 hour, or until the center is cooked through and the juices run clear.
If excess grease collects in the pan during baking, carefully drain it off.
Rest Before Serving
Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
This helps it hold together and makes cutting easier.
