Garbage Bread
Garbage Bread
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup diced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup sliced bell peppers
½ cup sliced black olives (optional)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 large egg
Instructions
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) so it’s ready to go once your bread is assembled and filled.
Sauté the Aromatics
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the diced onions and sauté until soft and fragrant, about 3–4 minutes.
Cook the Ground Beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
Stir in the minced garlic and season with salt and pepper.
Cook for another minute to deepen the flavor.
Add the Vegetables
Mix in the sliced bell peppers and black olives (if using).
Stir well to combine, and if desired, sprinkle in a touch of Italian seasoning for added depth.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Prepare the Dough
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle roughly 10 x 14 inches.
Leave about 1 inch of space around the edges for sealing.
Assemble the Filling
Evenly spread the cooled beef and vegetable mixture over the dough, keeping the borders clear.
Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese generously across the top.
Roll and Seal the Bread
Starting from the long side, roll the dough up tightly into a log, jelly-roll style.
Pinch the seams and ends to seal, then place the roll seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Add Vents and Egg Wash
Make a few small diagonal slits on top of the dough to allow steam to escape.
Brush the surface with a beaten egg for a shiny, golden finish.
Bake to Perfection
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds slightly hollow when tapped.
Cool and Serve
Allow the Garbage Bread to rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.
Serve warm to enjoy the gooey, cheesy filling at its best.
