Crockpot Corn on the Cob
Crockpot Corn on the Cob
Ingredients
Fresh corn on the cob – 6 to 8 ears, husked and cleaned
Water – 1 cup, to create steam in the crockpot
Butter – 1–2 tablespoons per serving, for richness
Salt and freshly ground black pepper – to taste
Optional herbs & spices – such as paprika, chili powder, or fresh parsley, for extra flavor
Instructions
Prepare the corn: Shuck the corn and remove all silk strands. Rinse under cold water to clean.
Arrange in the crockpot: Place the corn cobs into the crockpot and pour 1 cup of water into the bottom.
Season generously: Add a small pat of butter on top of each cob, then sprinkle with salt and pepper. You can also add herbs or spices for extra flavor.
Cook until tender: Cover with the lid and cook on low for 4–5 hours, or until the corn is tender and juicy.
Serve warm: Carefully remove the corn from the crockpot and serve immediately with additional butter, fresh herbs, or your favorite toppings.
Tips for Success
Enhance natural sweetness: Stir a teaspoon of sugar into the water before cooking to bring out the corn’s natural flavor.
Check doneness carefully: Avoid overcooking, as corn can become soft and mushy—test a kernel for tenderness around the 4-hour mark.
Add a smoky twist: For deeper flavor, wrap each cob in foil before placing it in the crockpot. This traps steam and gives a slightly roasted taste.
Customize the seasoning: Sprinkle on paprika, chili powder, garlic salt, or fresh herbs just before serving for extra layers of flavor.
Keep it warm: If serving for a gathering, you can leave the corn in the crockpot on the “warm” setting for up to an hour.
