Creamy Custard French Toast
Creamy Custard French Toast
Ingredients
Bread slices (brioche or Texas toast) – 6 thick-cut pieces, about 1 inch each, for a rich and sturdy base
Large eggs – 3, to bind and enrich the custard
Whole milk or half-and-half – 1 cup, adds body and creaminess
Heavy cream – ¼ cup, for a luxurious, velvety texture
Granulated sugar – ¼ cup, to sweeten the custard mixture
Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon, brings a warm, aromatic note
Ground cinnamon – ½ teaspoon, optional but adds cozy spice
Unsalted butter – 2 tablespoons, for frying to golden perfection
Maple syrup – as desired, for drizzling at the table
Fresh strawberries & blueberries – to taste, for garnish and brightness
Instructions
Prepare the custard
Crack the eggs into a large bowl, then whisk in the milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Mix until the custard is silky and evenly blended.
Soak the bread
Place each bread slice into the custard, allowing it to absorb the mixture on both sides.
Gently lift and let the excess drip back into the bowl.
Cook to perfection
Melt the butter in a nonstick skillet set over medium heat.
Lay the custard-soaked bread into the pan and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until the surface turns golden and the edges crisp up.
Serve and enjoy
Arrange the French toast on plates, drizzle with maple syrup, and finish with fresh berries for a bright, sweet touch.
Serve immediately while warm.
