Slow Cooker Honey Glazed Ham
Slow Cooker Honey Glazed Ham
Ingredients
7 to 8 pounds of bone-in, spiral-sliced ham
2 tablespoons of melted butter
3 tablespoons of honey
3/4 cup of granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
Instructions
Step 1:
Coat a large slow cooker insert with cooking spray (preferably a 7-quart model).
Step 2:
Remove the ham from its packaging and place it at the bottom of the prepared slow cooker.
Combine the melted butter and honey, then drizzle the mixture over and inside the ham slices.
Cover with the lid and cook on low heat for 3 to 4 hours.
Step 3:
In a medium bowl, combine the sugar, onion powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
Mix well.
After the ham has cooked, sprinkle half of this spice mixture over the ham.
You can then cover the ham and allow the sugar mixture to caramelize in the slow cooker for an additional 30 to 45 minutes.
Step 4:
Alternatively, you can carefully remove the slow cooker insert using oven mitts and place it under the broiler for 1 to 2 minutes to caramelize the sugar mixture quickly (make sure to only place the insert, not the entire slow cooker, under the broiler).
I recommend broiling for 2 minutes for perfect caramelization.
Step 5:
Once caramelized, carefully remove the insert from the oven and place it back in the slow cooker.
Turn off the heat and cover with the lid.
Step 6:
Meanwhile, add the remaining sugar mixture to a small saucepan along with 3 tablespoons of water.
Stir and bring to a boil over medium heat.
Once boiling, remove from heat and pour the glaze all over the ham.
Step 7:
Slice the ham, serve warm, and enjoy!
