Cheeseburger Spring Rolls
Cheeseburger Spring Rolls
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend for best juiciness and flavor)
1 small onion, finely diced
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Kosher salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or American cheese, if preferred)
1/4 cup dill pickles, finely chopped
12 spring roll wrappers (thawed if frozen)
2 tablespoons flour mixed with 3 tablespoons water (to create a sealing paste)
Oil for frying (or olive oil spray for air frying)
For dipping:
Ketchup and mayonnaise mixed together, or
Sweet chili sauce and sour cream mixed together
Instructions
Cook the Beef:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion together, stirring occasionally until the meat is fully cooked and the edges are crisp, about 5–7 minutes. Drain off all excess grease.
Season the Filling:
Stir in the ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool for about 5 minutes. Mix in the shredded cheese and chopped pickles.
Assemble the Spring Rolls:
Keep the spring roll wrappers covered with a damp towel to prevent them from drying out. Place about 2 tablespoons of filling in the center of each wrapper. Fold in the sides, then roll tightly (like a burrito), sealing the edges with the flour-water paste. Take care not to overfill.
Fry or Air Fry:
For deep frying, heat about 2 inches of oil in a pot to 350°F. Fry 3–4 spring rolls at a time for 3–4 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
For air frying, spritz the rolls lightly with oil and arrange in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 390°F for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway through, until crisp and golden.
Serve:
Serve the spring rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce—try a blend of ketchup and mayonnaise, or sweet chili sauce mixed with sour cream.
Freezer Option:
To freeze, place uncooked spring rolls on a parchment-lined tray in a single layer. Once frozen, transfer to a zip-top bag. Cook straight from frozen, adding 1–2 extra minutes to the cooking time.
